Installing the Focus E-Server

Purpose

Install and add the E-Server to the Startup Menu on the designated 'Mobile Station'.

Restrictions

The PC running the E-Server must have a static local IP Address.

.Net Framework of the PC must be 2.0 or higher.

Process to Installing the E-Server and Adding the E-Server to the Startup Menu

Step 1: Install the E-Server

• Copy the executable and Save the E-Server in the Focus on the Mobile Station in C:\:Focus.

• Run the E-Server by double clicking the application.

Note: If the Focus E-Server does not display ensure the computers .Net Framework is 2.0 or higher. See Minimum System Requirements.

• Enter 8100 in Port field by placing curser in the field and typing.

Note: Any Port number can be designated.

• Select 'Enable Logging'.
• Click 'Start'.
• Message displays with the Version Number, IP Address and Port number.
  • The Port and IP address will be used to connect the mobile device to the system.

  

  • Write down the Port number, this will be used when adding the E-Server to the Startup menu.
  • Close the E-Server.

Step 2: Add the E-Server to the Desktop and Start-up Menu.

• Create a shortcut on the desktop of the terminal running the E-Server.

• Add a switch to the command line with the port number entered in the E-Server (See above).
  • Right Click on the shortcut, select Properties > Target.
  • The Target should read: C:\Focus\FocusEServer.exe /8100

  Note: There is a space between 'exe' and the forward slash.

  Note: In the above example '8100' is the Port number provided by the E-Server. This number may differ for each system.

  • Set 'Run' to 'Minimized'.

  

  • Move the Shortcut to the 'Startup' menu.
  • Reboot the computer and verify that the Focus E-Server loads.
